A peek into my studio space...

Last month (April) over at the Tattered Angels blog, the design team posted peeks into their studios spaces. We focused a little on how we each store our Tattered Angels products. There's a huge variety of spaces shown, I'm sure you can find some storage ideas, no matter how large or small your space is.

I have a small room that I use for crafting/home office; it is also the guest room (it has a pull out sofa). Here is a photo of the desk area. That tower next to desk is where I store patterned paper. The drawers next to the desk are where I store small things that I use a lot (glue, gems, glitters, etc.).

The desk has a pull out surface; this lets me get more desk surface without having to place a large desk in the room.

I keep a little swatch book of glimmer mists, chalks, glazes, and glam right next to my desk.

I have a bunch of divided containers that I use for flowers (including the lovely white ones that are perfect for misting and painting), beads, buttons, brads, eyelets and other small pieces. Here are some images of that stuff.

I have a set of bookshelves in the room; this is where I store my stamps, screens and embossing plates.

I place most of stamps into CD cases, but the Tattered Angels stamps are large and many don’t fit into CD cases, so I just keep these in their packages and store them on a shelf next to other stamps.

I store the Tattered Angels screens in a desk paper organizer.

I store all of my paints in one of those shoe storage things that hangs on the back of a door. The Glimmer Mists are grouped by color. The Glimmer Glams, Glimmer Chalks and Glimmer Glazes are group together by type instead of color; each type has its own pouch.

And, I also store a lot of stuff in the room’s closet. On the inside of the closet door, I have ribbon storage.

And I have a bunch of wicker baskets in the closet where I keep tags, stickers, rub-ons, and alphas.

Also in the closet is some more paper storage shelves and little drawer units. The paper storage holds colored cardstock, glittered cardstock, and specialty papers, like diecuts and transparencies.

The little drawers hold chipboard pieces and things like that. Each theme from Tattered Angels gets a drawer, so in one drawer I will have the Glimmer Chips and the Glimmer Glass from the Nature Collection. I also keep the all my Tattered Angels Framed Fonts in these drawers.

So, that’s probably enough photos of craft storage, here are a couple of card/envelope combos that I made.

Bingo Cards Art Journal and Wedding Favors...

Hi guys, first off, sorry to anyone who happened upon my blog this week and found it permission only. I was trying to rearrange the format and got it all messed up, so I took it down until I could get it fixed. So, now, here we are again, it looks the same as it did before I started messing with, I just decided to abort the mission for now. :)

On to my projects for the Tattered Angels blog this month - art journals and weddings were the themes for this month. For my art journal pages I used the Tattered Angels Bingo Boards and Calling Cards. Because the cards are pre-printed, it was easy to get an interesting background for my pages without a lot of stamping and such. Before I applied any of the Glimmer Mists, Glazes or Glams; I dry-brushed some areas of the pages with a cream colored acrylic to fade the background back a little bit.

For my wedding themed project, I made three versions of wedding favors -- going from simple to a little more complicated. This gives you options depending on how many favors have to be made or how much time or money can be allocated to production of the favors. Instructions for how to make these and other great wedding ideas will be provided on the Tattered Angels website here. After they have all been published on the TA website, I'll post the instructions on my blog also.

This first favor is the easiest to make of the three sets. The box is kept simple and the focus is on the patterned ribbon and tiny rose detail.

Products Used: Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist (Turquoise Blue, Key Lime Pie, and Lemon Zest); Tattered Angels Chalkboard Glimmer Mist (Firefly); Miniature White Paper Roses; White Paper Favor Boxes; and Printed Ribbon.

This favor takes a little more time to make than the first set. Because the ribbon is kept simple, visual interest is created by using a masking technique to add a pattern to the box.

Products Used: Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist (Turquoise Blue, Key Lime Pie, and Lemon Zest); Tattered Angels Chalkboard Glimmer Mist (Firefly); Tattered Angels Glimmer Glam (Chandelier); Tattered Angels Fanciful Stencils Glimmer Screens; Orange Paper Roses; Silk Leaves; Colored Tulle; and White Paper Favor Boxes.

This favor is the most elaborate of the three sets today. The box uses a similar technique as set 2, but an additional stamping step is added and the butterfly is hand painted.

Fabulous glimmered fabric…

I had so much fun painting and spraying fabric for March's blog projects over at the Tattered Angels blog. I made a little variety of things. First, I got a jump start on Easter by making a little basket for colored eggs. The wire basket was recycled from the Christmas gift I got from my sister, Jan. I selected the floral ribbon to use along the top of the basket. Then I sprayed wide fabric ribbon with coordinating glimmer mists (Vintage Pink, Pink Bubblegum, Flower Power, Tiger Lily, Sun Sisters, Lemon Grass, Olive Vine, Key Lime Pie, Black Cherry and Pomegranate). After the strips were dry, I wove them through the wires on the basket. Now, I’m looking forward to seeing some pretty eggs in there!

Next, I painted a printed scarf with Glimmer Glam (Golden Goddess, Chandelier, Organic Garden and Blue Suede Shoes) to add some glittery glimmery goodness. I just laid the scarf on top of a paper towel and then painted over the flower and leaves with the Glimmer Glam. You can see some of it in the photos, but it’s even prettier in person.

My last project is an altered headband. This started out as a plain off-white fabric covered headband. I sprayed it with Decadence Chalk Glimmer Mist and then painted over that with Organic Garden Glimmer Glam. I added a little Chandelier Glimmer Glam around the centers of each flower so they had some sparkle to match the headband.

Tattered Angels and Metal...

Tattered Angels + Metal = FUN! February is metal month on the Tattered Angels blog. Metal night not be the first thing that comes to mind when you think about using Tattered Angels paints, but when you see February's projects on the Tattered Angels blog, it will change your mind. My projects are below, but be sure to check the TA blog for the rest of the team's projects, they are amazing!

My first project is a pair of earrings that I’m calling Blue Earth. I took a round silver bead and coated it with blue (Midnight Rendezvous) and green (Emerald Cove) Glimmer Glaze. I added a couple more beads and assembled them onto a french wire earring hook.

Next up is a altered pail. I painted the top portion of the pail with brown (Espresso Bean) Glimmer Glam and I painted the bottom portion with green (Organic Garden) Glimmer Glam. I add some accents along the embossed detail with green (Emerald Cove) and orange (Orange Crush) Glimmer Glaze.

The last project I have for the month is a Valentine Card. The “Be mine” letters were plain silver metal; I coated them with red (Be Positive) Glimmer Glam. And the dinosaur was already colored, but I painted over him with Glam (Be Positive, Peach Bellini, Organic Garden, Golden Goddess, and Chandelier) to add a little sparkle.

Tattered Angels + Canvas…

Yeah!!! The Tattered Angels blog is back up and running!!! And this month the Design Team is focusing on the fabulous combo of canvas and Tattered Angels paints!

For my first project, I started small with a mini canvas. I stamped the image and text with black StazOn Ink. Then I painted the canvas with Glimmer Glaze. The detail image shows the nice variations and depth you can get from overlaying various colors of glazes.

Products Used - Mini Canvas: Reeves; Letter Stamps: Creative Imaginations; Butterfly Stamp: Studio G; Ink: Tsukineko; Glimmer Glaze (Sugar Cane, Penny Loafer, Orange Crush, Waterfall and Emerald Cove): Tattered Angels.

My next project is a larger (12x12) canvas. I saw this saying on an item while I was out shopping one day over the holidays. The saying stuck with me, so I thought I'd incorporate it into a wall hanging for my studio.

I stamped all of the letters on individually with black StazOn Ink. I painted all of the letters with various colors of Glimmer Glaze. The little brush that comes with the Glimmer Glaze (it looks like a nail polish brush) was a perfect size for painting the small spaces in the letters.
Then I sprayed the whole canvas with Vanilla Breeze Glimmer Mist. Then I added little colored spots all over the canvas. I did this by pulling the sprayers out of the glimmer mist bottles and flicking them above the canvas.

Products Used - Canvas: Michaels; Letter Stamps: Dawn Houser; Felt Accents: La-di-dah; Brads: Basic Grey; Glimmer Mist (Vanilla Breeze, Bahama Blue, Trunk Bay, and Pumpkin Pie): Tattered Angels; Glimmer Glaze (Penny Loafer, Sugar Cane, Waterfall, Paradise Pink, Orange Crush, Purple Passion and Emerald Cove): Tattered Angels.

Next I altered the lid on a jar candle. I had these round canvas stickers in my stash, but you could make them by cutting the canvas freehand or running it through a die cutter. I stamped the larger circle with a stamp from the Tattered Angels Time Traveler Collection (that collection has a lot of circular stamps). I sprayed it with blue (Bahama Blue and Truck Bay) glimmer mists. I'm giving this candle as a little thank you to a friend, so I stamped the smaller circle with some Thank You word art. I sprayed it with orange and yellow (Pumpkin Pie and Sun Sisters) glimmer mists. The purple flower is from Prima.

Products Used - Canvas Stickers: Technique Tuesday; Flower: Prima; Stamps: Tattered Angels and Inkadinkado; Glimmer Mist (Bahama Blue, Trunk Bay, Sun Sisters and Pumpkin Pie).

This next project is an altered chipboard and canvas binder (the spine is covered is canvas). I organize my inspiration books into binders. I have one for cards, one for scrapbook pages and one for home decor and other misc things. Well, I just started getting into beading, so I wanted to make an inspiration book for that as well. I had these file folders with a really cool pattern on them - I wanted to cut them and use them to cover the chipboard part of the binder. What I love about Glimmer Mist is how you can overlay the colors to get just right shade to coordinate with your other project elements. For the spine I mixed Viva Pink and Chocolate Covered Cherries Glimmer Mists. The "BEADS" letters are the center portion of the Tattered Angels Butterfly Framed Fonts. The pink letters are spayed with Viva Pink and the orange are sprayed with Pumpkin Pie. Both have a little Sun Sisters sprayed on them as well.

Products Used - Binder: BoBunny; Patterned Paper(recycled file folder): The Container Store; Ribbon: Offray; Chipboard Letters: Tattered Angels; Glimmer Glam (Espresso Bean): Tattered Angels; Glimmer Mist (Chocolate Covered Cherries, Viva Pink, Pumpkin Pie and Sun Sisters): Tattered Angels.

The last project I want to show you is one I did last March - in case you didn't see it then - it's a altered canvas apron.

The apron was a lot of fun to alter. I made a little flower garden on it. I sprayed the apron with green and blue glimmer mists (Meadow Green, Key Lime Pie, Sweet Clover, Olive Vine, Waterslide, and Frost). Then I stamped the swirls (Fanciful Stencils Glimmer Screens) and stems (Donna Downy foam stamp) using manila colored acrylic paint. With double-sided tape, I attached two layers of trim along the top edge of the ruffle. Then I added some felt flowers and embellishments.

Some holiday ornaments...

Here are some glass ornaments that I altered with Tattered Angels paints. For these stars, I placed them face down and poured a really thick layer of Glimmer Glaze and Glimmer Glam on the back of the stars. While they were still wet I sprinkled on some chunky glitter. After they were dry, I flipped them over and embellished the fronts with a few gems.

Products Used - Star Shaped Glass Ornaments: Crate and Barrel; Glimmer Glaze (Emerald Cove, Paradise Pink, Cowboy and Purple Passion): Tattered Angels; Glimmer Glam (Golden Goddess and Espresso Bean): Tattered Angels; Gems: Michaels.

I painted two colors of Glimmer Glaze onto this glass ornament and then coated it with crystal snow glitter.

Products Used - Glass Ornament: Crate and Barrel; Glimmer Glaze (Emerald Cove and Paradise Pink): Tattered Angels; Glitter: Stampendous.

This ornament started out as a plain frosted glass globe. I sprayed it with Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Mist to give it an all over glimmer. Then I poured green Glimmer Glaze on the top and let it drip down the sides. After the glaze dried, I poured on a second coat of green glaze, and while the second coat was wet, I added some crystal snow glitter.

Products Used - Frosted Glass Ornament: Crate and Barrel; Glimmer Mist (Dazzling Diamonds): Tattered Angels; Glimmer Glaze (Emerald Cove): Tattered Angels; Glitter: Stampendous.

Tattered Angel's Paints and Wood...

Here are some projects focused on using wood with Tattered Angels paints.

The first project is a set of place cards made using re-purposed wooden stamp blocks and large chipboard letters.

Products Used - Chipboard Letters, Glimmer Glaze (Cowboy), Glimmer Mist (Sugar Maple, Indian Corn, Apple, Meadow Green, Coffee Shop, Glimmer Glam (Espresso Bean): Tattered Angels; Silk Leaves: Michael's; and re-purposed wood stamp blocks.

The chipboard letters I used here are from the Tattered Angels Regal Framed Fonts. I love their framed font collections. Each letter is made of three separate pieces (the letter, the background, and the frame); this makes it very easy to color each piece a different color. Here I used Coffee Shop GM on the frames, Apple and Meadow Green GM on the backgrounds, and Sugar Maple and Indian Corn GM on the letters. I coated the backs of the letters with Cowboy Glimmer Glaze. To make the bases, I cut a little slit in the wood stamp block with a Dremmel, then I treated the blocks with a crackle finish. Once the crackle finish was dry I painted on some Tattered Angels Espresso Beam Glimmer Glam.

The next project also uses re-purposed wooden stamp blocks to create a framed piece of altered art.

Products Used - Glimmer Mist (Tiger Lily, Peppermint Stick, Candlelight, Sunflower, Twilight, Caribbean Blue, Keylime Pie, Frozen Lake and Meadow Green): Tattered Angels; Chipboard: MAMBI; Epoxy Stickers: MAMBI; Gems: Martha Stewart; Button: Webster's Pages; Paper: MAMBI; Metal Accents: Making Memories; and re-purposed wood stamp blocks.

Some of the blocks were covered with photos, some with patterned paper, and some still have the original sticker showing the stamp design. The solid colored blocks were sprayed with Glimmer Mist. What is so cool about glimmer mist is the ability to get a wide range of shades from one bottle just by altering the amount you apply. This makes it easy to get the perfect shade to coordinate with your project. And because you can blend colors together, having only a few colors of GM can yield many different results.

The last project is an re-purposed wooden wine box.

Products Used - Glimmer Mist (Forest Green, Sunflower, Peppermint Stick, Frozen Lake, Black Magic and Sand): Tattered Angels; Glimmer Glaze (Cowboy): Tattered Angels; Patterned Paper: Dream Street; Gems: Prima and MAMBI; and re-purposed wine box.

I painted the outside of the box with Cowboy Glimmer Glaze. I sprayed the inside with Forest Green and Frozen Lake Glimmer Mist. I covered some of the areas inside the box with patterned paper.

I used the Tattered Angels Postage Stamp Framed Fonts to add the word "cards" on the outside of the box. I framed the word with some of the Tattered Angels Embossed Glimmer Chips sprayed with Black Magic Glimmer Mist. The Glimmer Mist colors I used on the letters were Forest Green, Frozen Lake, Sunflower, Sand, and Peppermint Stick.

Treat Bags...

Here is cute little card I made using the Tattered Angels 2010 fall glimmer mist colors, I'm so in love with these colors!

And here are some treat bags, these were super easy to make. I just sprayed pre-made bags/boxes with glimmer mist and then added a few tags and ribbons. On the large bag, the ruffle at the top is made using some of the Tattered Angels Crepe Ribbon.

Below is an image of what the boxes/bags looked like before I altered them.

Hybrid Card and Envelope Sets...

Here are some really easy to make coordinating note card and envelope sets.

I used a kit that included quickpages (Secrets Of Nature by Manu available at scrapbookgraphics.com). I sized four of the quickpages down to 5″x5″, printed them onto white cardstock, trimmed to size, and then glued them to front of store-bought envelope. I’ll just write the person’s name/address in the part where the photo would normally be placed.

For the note cards I made a 5″x10″ canvas in my photo-editing program (Photoshop). I combined a few of the elements from the kit on the lower portion of the canvas (below the fold line). To make it easy, I kept the base graphic (the black swirl and the tree) the same on each card and just changed the one featured image on each card (flowers/butterfly). I printed each note card onto white cardstock, trimmed to size, and then folded each in half. That’s it, nice and simple!

Some Tattered Tags...

Have you gotten any of the new fall colors of Glimmer Mist yet? I used them for most of my projects shown below and I must tell you - I’m in love with these colors! Sometimes the photos don’t do them justice, they are so A-MAZZZ-INGLY beautiful in person.

August was "resist" month on the Tattered Angels blog, so each of my projects showcases a resist technique. My first project uses Vaseline for the resist.

Products: Tag: Office Supply Store; Chipboard Butterfly: Tattered Angels; Letter Stickers: Pink Paislee, October Afternoon; Patterned Paper: DCWV; Ledger Stamp: Hero Arts; Ribbon: Offray; Heart Stick Pins: Maya Road; Vaseline; Varnish: Delta Creamcost; Glimmer Mist (Apple, Wheatfield): Tattered Angels; Glimmer Glam (Espresso Bean): Tattered Angels.

First I stamped the tag with the ledger image than sprayed it with Apple GM. After the GM was dry I coated the tag with a satin finish varnish and let that dry. Using a stuff brush I painted the Vaseline on several areas of the tag. You could just apply it with your fingers as well. Then I painted over the entire card with Espresso Bean Glimmer Glam. After it was dry, I rubbed the card with a paper towel. The Vaseline keeps the Glimmer Glam from adhering to the tag so all of the Vaseline covered areas will be wiped clean down to the varnish layer. As you can see, you can create a really nice distressed paint look with this technique. The butterfly chipboard is from the Butterfly Framed Fonts, it has been sprayed with Wheatfield GM.

On the next tag, I stamped and embossed (white embossing powder) a compass stamp (from the Tattered Traveler Stamp Set). Then I sprayed the tag with Apple, Dragonfly, Pomegranate, and Autumn Nights GM. The embossed image resists the glimmer mist; you just need to wipe the glimmer mist off with a paper towel.

Products: Tag: Office Supply Store; Gems: MAMBI; Letter Stickers: October Afternoon; Compass Stamp: Tattered Angels; Ribbon: May Arts; White Embossing Powder: Tsukineko; Embossing Ink: Ranger; Glimmer Mist (Apple, Dragonfly, Pomegranate, and Autumn Nights): Tattered Angels.

On this next tag, the resist was done using a stencil and varnish. I coated the entire tag with Golden Goddess Glimmer Glam. Once that way dry, I placed the stencil on the tag and applied the varnish (the resist medium). After the varnish was dry, I sprayed the tag with Apple, Dragonfly, and Pomegranate GM. The resisted parts are the golden colored petal shaped areas. Then I stamped and gold embossed the beehive pattern. I stamped and embossed the butterfly twice – first in gold, then in black. The butterfly stamp is from the Nature Collection – Graceful Journey Stamp Set. The chipboard butterfly (from the Nature Glimmer Chip Collection) is sprayed with Pomegranate and Apple GM. The chipboard letters are from the Regal Framed Fonts Set, they have been sprayed with Apple and Dragonfly GM.

Just like on the previous tag, the resist on the next tag was done using a stencil and varnish. I coated the entire tag with Golden Goddess Glimmer Glam. Once that way dry, I placed the stencil on the tag and applied the varnish (the resist medium). After the varnish was dry, I sprayed the tag with Dragonfly and Pomegranate GM. The resisted parts are the golden colored areas. Then I stamped and black embossed the beehive pattern. I stamped and white embossed the flourish image (the stamp I used is actually the tree canopy from the Blossom Stamp Set – Trees). Then I stamped it again on the other side of the tag and embossed it with purple glittered embossing powder. I colored in some of the beehive cells with Emerald Cove Glimmer Glaze. The chipboard frame is sprayed with Pomegranate GM and the area within the frame is sprayed with Apple GM

On this tag I used a stencil with Glimmer Glam. I placed the stencil on the tag and applied Espresso Bean Glimmer Glam (the resist medium). After the glam was dry, I sprayed the tag with Apple, Dragonfly and Pomegranate GM. Then I stamped the swirl (from the Regal Collection Stamp Set - Classic Accents) in black solvent ink. The chipboard “U” and surrounding circle are from the Tattered Traveler Framed Font Set, they are sprayed with Apple, Dragonfly and Pomegranate GM.

On this last tag I stamped and clear embossed the ledger lines. I then sprayed the tag with Dragonfly, Apple and Sugar Maple GM. Once the GM was dry, I added letter stickers spelling “thank you” to the tag. I traced around the stickers with a permanent-ink black pen and then removed the stickers. I filled in the letter areas with a clear dimensional glaze. Once the glaze was dry, I sprayed the letter area with Pomegranate GM. The glaze resists the GM. The chipboard owl (from the Nature Glimmer Chip Collection) was sprayed with Apple GM.

I thought I re-post a few of my older projects that used a resist technique with Glimmer Mist. All of the cards below use a sort of a double emboss resist technique (heat (wet) emboss over a dry embossed image). You rub clear embossing ink onto the raised parts of the image, add clear embossing powder and heat emboss. Spray Glimmer Mist over the image and then dab/wipe the Glimmer Mist, the mist will wipe off the raised embossed portion of the image. You can get more info and images in the original post here.

Hi everyone! Hope you all are enjoying your summer, I feel like it's passing along so fast, I can't believe it's August!

Anyway, my first two projects use one of my all time favorite color combos - blue and green. On the first project I sprayed a Tattered Angels Tag with the following Glimmer Mist colors: Key Lime Pie, Meadow Green, Electric Blue and Caribbean Blue. The chipboard letters are from the Framed Fonts Postage Stamp Set. I cut up one the frames from that set and used it along the bottom edge of the tag. The beautiful chipboard butterfly is from the Tattered Angels Nature Glimmer Chips Set. I embellished it with a felt flower and pearl stick pins from Maya Road.

On this next card, I placed a large silhouette sticker (from Magenta) onto white cardstock and then sprayed it with Key Lime Pie and Electric Blue GM. The glimmer mist doesn't stick to the vinyl-like sticker so after I was done spraying, I just wiped away the excess glimmer mist. I sprayed the TA Angels Nature Calling Card and the corrugated paper with Marshmallow GM and then layered them on the card with the sticker graphic. I sprayed a piece of the corrugated chipboard with Electric Blue GM and placed it behind a ornate oval Glimmer Chip from the TA Regal Collection; which I sprayed with Marshmallow GM. That great pearly flower button is from Tim Holtz.

The last two cards feature this cool stencil I got from Magenta. It is a two-step stencil - one stencil for the overall butterfly shape and another stencil for the wing pattern. For the overall butterfly shape I used Lemon Grass and Tiger Lily. For the wing pattern I used Coral Reef and Oriental Poppy. The patterned paper on card below was cut from one of the TA Tags. I sprayed it with the same glimmer mist colors that I used in on butterfly plus a little Key Lime Pie GM.

The background was made by stamping a wood grain stamp in orange ink and then lightly spraying over it with Tiger Lily GM. The corrugated paper was originally kraft colored, I added some Black Magic GM to darken it up and add a little more contrast to the layers.

Pretty as a Picture...

Here are a few cards I made with Stacy Marks' (Marks Paper Company) latest release - Pretty as a Picture.

I love the way the white paint ended up looking on this card, especially the stamped "hello". Using acrylic paint on a rubber stamp sort of created the reverse on what you would get with ink. The paint was pushed out from under the stamp and created an outline around the letters.

Tattered Paislee Love...

Hi everyone! I wanted to thank all of the wonderful crafters that stopped by the Tattered Angels booth last month at GASC in Chantilly, VA. I had a lot of fun at the demo table and all of you ladies were awesome! It was also very nice to meet some of the Tattered Angels team! So, now on to some projects. In June, we (the Tattered Angels DT) got to work with Pink Paislee products. It was a great month on the Tattered Angels blog, Pink Paislee and Tattered Angels are a perfect combo. First I have a card made using one of the Tattered Tags: Frames and Flourishes.

Products: Tag, Butterfly Chipboard: Tattered Angels; Small Black Tag, Siwrl Accents (foam), Patterned Paper, Twill; Brad, Glittered Chipboard: Pink Paislee; Rub-on and Patterned Paper (inside the butterfly frame): Basic Grey; Glimmer Mist (Lemon Zest, Turquoise Blue): Tattered Angels.

The little black tag layered with it is from the Pink Paislee Baybeery Cottage Collection. The foam swirls, glittered chipboard, brad and twill ribbon are also from Pink Paislee. The butterfly is from the Tattered Angels Framed Fonts Nature Collection. I sprayed the foam swirls (artisan elements) with Key Lime Pie GM. The butterfly, flower, and trim were all sprayed with Turquoise Blue GM. The trim and flower were made from the Pink Paislee Pleated Ribbon. I cut slits all along one side of the ribbon, I didn't cut through the stitching that runs down the middle of the ribbon. Then I rolled the ribbon into a flower (using the same technique you would use to make those rolled paper or ribbon flowers that are very popular right now).

While I was at GASC last weekend I picked up the Spellbinders dies I've been wanting (Labels One and Labels Eight). The next two cards use the Labels Eight dies. I love these dies and I think you all are going to be seeing a lot of them! :)

The card below uses patterned paper and die-cuts from the Pink Paislee Bayberry Cottage Collection and the Queen Bee Collection. The chipboard is all Tattered Angels.

The chipboard photo corner used as the roof is from the Regal Glimmer Chips Set (sprayed with the same colors as the postage frame). The bird is from the Va Va Victorian - Irresistable Chips Set (sprayed with Black Cherry and Cranberry Zing).

My last card uses patterned paper, die-cuts and large chipboard letters from the Pink Paislee 365 Degrees Collection. The foiled chipboard (wings, crown and stars) is from the Tattered Angels Rockin' Royalty - Foil Chips Set.

July Hybrid Challenge Inspiration...

Hi everyone, today I'm going to show you some cards to get you thinking about July's Hybrid Challenge that I'm hosting over at Scrapbookgraphics.com. You can read the details of the challenge here, but basically there are two requirements: 1) make a greeting card using a quick page as the starting point and 2) use buttons (real ones) on the card.

On my first card I used the quick page shown below. It is from What Dreams May Come CD Album By Flergs.

An easy way to incorporate some real embellishments into your hybrid projects is to just place them over the ones that were placed on digitally. On this card, I added some real embellishments to the flower center. I also added a piece of chipboard wordart where the paper and tray were drawn on the quick page.

For a little extra detail, I cut around the banner flags so I could lift them up off of the paper a bit.

Like I did on the previous card, I filled the photo spot with patterned paper and printed the quick page at a card size. Next, from the full kit, I got the digital flowers that were used on the quick page and I scaled them to match the size of the ones on the quick page. I printed them separately, trimmed them out and attached them to the card with pop-up dots. I added some buttons to the flower centers, added the 'congrats' letter stickers, and hand wrote 'on your new home' in the journal spot that was already provided on the quick page. I covered a chipboard house and heart in patterned paper and then sanded the edges to give it a bit more interest.

This quick page has multiple photo spots. I used them as placeholders for each word in the "I love U" sentiment. Then I added the embellishments (flowers and buttons) in the locations they were provided in the quick page.

Here I did something a little different. I made a striped background that coordinated with paper pieces drawn in the quick page. I glued color coordinating buttons down to each colored strip. Then I cut the photo area out of the quick page to make a window. I layered this over the button-covered paper. I just happened to have that chipboard word 'smile' that matched the card perfectly.

OK - so I have one last thing to show you, since this month's challenge involves buttons, I thought I would share my clear button technique card with you. The different techniques shown here include: stamping on the backs of the buttons, covering the backs with patterned paper, covering the backs with ribbon, coloring the buttons with alcohol ink, filing them with micro beads, coating them with flocking, and placing small paper flowers underneath them.

This technique cards is something I made a couple of years ago in a technique class I took online. We did one technique each week for a year. Each week resulted in a 5x7 card that when put together made a 52 card deck. For me, this deck has been a really good resource for inspiration. Eyeglass Case and a Couple of Cards...

Here's some Tattered Angels goodness. I altered this little wooden eyeglass case I got at the craft store.

The flap part of the case absorbed glimmer mist very well, but the rest of the case was a different type of wood and wasn't absorbing the mist very well and I wasn't getting the dark brown color I wanted. This situation ended being a perfect example to showcase the difference between Glimmer Mist and Glimmer Glaze. I remembered I had a dark brown Glimmer Glaze (Cowboy), so I applied one coat of the Glaze with a paintbrush to the case. The thicker consistency of the Glaze compared to the Mist worked perfectly and I got the lovely dark brown shimmer I was looking for. Then I just added a few embellishments including the adorable chipboard owl from the Nature Glimmer Chip set.

The next project I want to show you is a Happy Birthday card.

I used a stencil and Key Lime Pie Glimmer Mist to create the pattern on top of the notebook paper (from My Little Shoebox). The chipboard letter H and butterfly (Tattered Angels Butterfly Framed Fonts Set) were sprayed with Key Lime Pie and Suede Glimmer Mist and inked around the edges with a brown chalk ink. The original color of the pink letter stickers was not quite dark enough for the card, so I placed the stickers on a sheet of cardstock and then sprayed them with Viva Pink Glimmer Mist. The stickers have a coating on them that prevented the mist from adhering to the face of the stickers but the mist did absorb into the letters in from the back and sides. I think this gave them a nice inked edge look.

I layered some patterned paper and scalloped diecut (both are from My Little Shoebox). The large tag (Tattered Tags - Frames and Flourishes) was sprayed with Sand Glimmer Mist. The bird diecut (VaVa Victorian Irresistible Chips) was sprayed with Suede and Water Slide Glimmer Mists. The chipboard frame behind is from the Regal Framed Fonts Collection, it was sprayed with Key Lime Pie and Sweet Clover Glimmer Mists.

Time Flies...

Marks Paper Company just released a new digital kit - Time Flies (available at Two Peas in a Bucket). I love the bright colors in this kit and it has a nice mix of very detailed and very bold elements. Here are a few cards I made with the kit.

Here's something I love about hybrid. The butterfly in the center is the original butterfly from the kit, because it's digital, I was able to easily recolor it to create the others for this card.

Some quick hybrid card techniques...

Today I have a few hybrid cards and techniques to share with you. For all of the cards, I did the layout in Photoshop, printed the graphics on white cardstock and then added the additional embellishments. These cards were originally posted last week in my Mix It Up hybrid post over at Scrapbook Graphics.

On this first card, I used a layering technique on the flower. For this technique, you print multiple copies of the flower and then trim out concentric rows of petals. You layer the trimmed pieces on top of one another, placing foam adhesive pop dots between each layer. This technique is a good way to add a lot of dimension to a flower.

On the next card, I used a paper curling technique on the butterfly. For this technique you print the butterfly separately from the card background, trim it out and then curl each of the wings by rolling them with your fingers. When you attach the butterfly to the card, you only add adhesive to the body part, allowing the wings to float above the card.

On this card I used dimensional paint to add texture. There are a number of different types of dimensional paint available. I like the pearlescent kind that comes in little squeeze bottles and have a very small tip that dispenses the paint. The small tip gives you a lot of control when applying the paint. I added a little dot of white pearlescent paint at every intersection point of the graphic on the background paper and a green row of dots above the sentiment. This is a really simple way to add interest to a card without doing a lot of fancy cutting and layering.

On this last card I used glitter glue to add some sparkle. Just as I mentioned with the dimensional paint, there are a number of different types available – and just like with the dimensional paint, I like the kind that comes in little squeeze bottles with very small dispensing tips. With the small tip you have good application control – you can apply it in small dots or fill in a large area by spreading it around with the tip as you are applying it. On the card below, the butterflies completely covered with a diamond colored glitter glue, the heart graphic was traced over with red glitter glue and small dots of silver glitter glue were placed in a row above the sentiment.

Here are a few more hybrid cards. I really enjoy designing the card layout digitally, printing it all out and adding the little touches of physical embellishments. This little bird with the silk flower embellishments for the wings and tail is one of my favorites. I also really like the way the second card shown turned out. I'm loving those large grayish gems flower centers and I think the little black and white striped ribbon is a perfect little touch. Hope you like them too.

Some hybrid projects...

First here is a set of gift boxes perfect for Mother's Day. A friend of mine gave me a tablet of pre-cut boxes - the kind you just punch out and assemble. If you've been watching my blog, you know that I've previously shown these boxes altered a couple different ways for use as Easter treat boxes. But I really like making them and I wanted to make some that were more suited for Mother's Day. As it turns out, this set is definitely my favorite of the ones I've made so far. I used the Creative Fusion Collection - About a Mother at Scrapbook Graphics, specifically I used the paper and elements designed by Rosey Posey for the Collection. The boxes originally come plain white with some embossing. I add the patterns to the boxes by running the sheets through the printer before I punch out and assemble them. Additionally, I sprayed the back of the butterfly and flower cut-outs with Sweet Clover Gimmer Mist.

There is a lot of new word art showing up in the Scrapbook Graphics store, thanks to their newest designer, Bethany Hardy. Bethany's word art covers a really wide range of topics and she has an “attitude” series that is really funny – with sayings like ”I didn’t say it was your fault, I said I was going to blame you.” I think it would really funny to use something from the attitude series on cards, but for today, I'm sticking to some nice sentiments about friendship and love. :)

For most of the graphics on the cards, I used kits from Tangie Baxter’s Art Journal Caravan. These kits are perfect for cards, they are sort of mini-kits with about 25 elements in each. A nice amount of stuff so you have some options, but not enough stuff to overwhelm you with choices when you are making something small, like a card. I assembled all the cards in Adobe Photoshop, printed them onto white cardstock and then added some additional layering and embellishments.

Quick cards sets using Variations...

This tutorial was made for my April post on the blog at Scrapbook Graphics. I've actually already done the May post there, which I'll post here today as well, but I wanted to get this one up first. This is a digital technique you can use to make a complete set of cards using just one card design.

First you need to create one card design that you like. Here is a screen shot of my design; it was made using Rosey Posey’s One More Day Kit.

Next, I made a copy of all of the layers in my design and collapsed these copied layers into one layer. This lets me retain my original layers separated in case I want to change something later. This new merged layer will be the first card for the set. I’m making a four-card set, so I made three more copies of the merged layer. Now, I’m just going to adjust the colors on my copies using the Variations tool. In Photoshop CS you can find this tool under Image, Adjustments, and then click on Variations. In Photoshop Elements you find it under Enhance, Adjust Color and then click on Color Variation. Here is a screen shot from Photoshop CS of what you see when the Variations tool first opens. The tool lets you clearly see what the graphic will look like if you add more of one color or another.

You can select to edit the Shadows, Midtones, Highlights, or Saturation. I only edited the Midtones on my images. The next screen shot shows what it looks like after I clicked More Yellow twice. The top two images in the screen shot show the original and what the new color edited version looks like in comparison.

That’s it, you just color edit as many copies of your design as you want to include in the card set. As you can see, once you have your design done, making the variations for the additional cards is very quick and simple. Here is a screen shot of all four of my card images.

The next step is to print them out. The finished size for my cards is a 4″ square. So, I need to place my card design on a rectangle that is 4″x8″, which when folded in half will give me a 4″ square. The screen shot below shows an 8.5×11 page set up for printing, everything that is light grey will be trimmed off. I find it easiest take the final card design as one layer and put it in to place all four designs into this one print file and just turn on each card design individually for printing.

Here an image of my final cards. I added rub-on greetings after they were printed. You could also hand write the greetings or add them digitally before you print. I love giving little card sets like this as thank you or hostess gifts. Just stack them with some envelopes and tie it all together with a ribbon.

The following two projects use the Birds, Blooms and Bikes Kit. A friend of mine gave me a tablet that was full of pre-cut boxes. You just punch them out, fold them up and add a little glue and you get these cute little boxes. The tablet was made by Marcella by K, which I think you can buy at Target. I've recently shown these on my blog where I sprayed the sheets with glimmer mist. Here I added printed patterns to the boxes by running them through a printer before I punched them out and assembled them.

Hope you have a fun weekend planned! It's looking to be a beautiful day here in DC so I don't plan on spending all of my time in the house and I do have a bridal shower to attend, but I do want to make time to check out some of the fun on-line scrappy related activities today. Tattered Angels has some fun things planned for NSD as well as the whole month of May, you can read more about it on Liz's blog here. And of course scrapbook.com and Two Peas always have a lot of activities planned for this weekend. So, I hope you have some paper crafting fun today!

And speaking of Tattered Angels, I have a bunch of projects to show you. In April the TA design team linked up with Prima and one of the things I got to work with was Donna Downy’s canvas apron.

The apron was a lot of fun to alter. I made a little flower garden on it. I sprayed the apron with green and blue glimmer mists (Meadow Green, Key Lime Pie, Sweet Clover, Olive Vine, Water Slide, and Frost). Then I stamped the swirls (Fanciful Glimmer Screens) and stems (Donna Downy foam stamp) using manila colored acrylic paint. With double-sided tape, I attached two layers of trim along the top edge of the ruffle. Then I added some felt flowers and embellishments. The felt flowers with the stitching are from Prima, I’ve had them for a little while, I think they are called Loft flowers.

My next project is a miss you card, I love the fresh color palette on this one.

I made the background diamond pattern by using a Prima felt mattie as a stencil. While the felt mattie was in place, I sprayed the green glimmer mists (Sweet Clover, Meadow Green, Key Lime Pie) and after the stencil was removed I sprayed yellow glimmer mist (Lemongrass) over the entire sheet. The swirl (Regal Classic Accents) was stamped in dark red chalk ink. I layered a calling card (Timeless Romance Calling Cards), a postcard glimmer chip (Tattered Traveler Embossed Chips), and some flowers that I cut from patterned paper (Prima's Strawberry Kisses). The gem flower centers are from Prima as well. The photo corner is glimmer chip from the Regal Collection sprayed with dark red glimmer mist (Indian Corn). I added the sentiment with letter rub-ons.

The last project I have from April is a graduation card. The card background is coated with silver glimmer mist (Silver Sugar). The tag (Tattered Tags - Frames and Flourishes) was sprayed with yellow glimmer mists (Lemongrass and Sunflower). Then I painted some accents on the tag with brown glimmer glaze (Cowboy). Once that was all dry, I added a coat of gold glimmer glam (Golden Goddess) on about half of the tag. I embellished the tag with some chipboard (Rockin' Royalty Foil Chips), some crystal gems, ribbon, felt (Prima) and lace (Prima).

And I realized is I never posted my March Tattered Angels projects here. In March we worked with Fancy Pants. I received their Little Sprout Collection. Even though it's a baby themed collection, it's got versatility and can be used for much more than that.

I used it to make a page about how much my dog, Winston, loved his toys. I sprayed Sweet Clover and Meadow Green GM on the background papers to add a little more contrast along the edge where the background paper and the other patterned papers meet. I made the circle you see behind the word 'toys" by trimming away part of the chipboard frame from the Pocket Watch Framed Fonts Set. I misted it with Oriental Poppy and then added chipboard letters from the Postage Stamps Framed Fonts Set. The little white dots are liquid applique. I love heating that stuff up and watching it expand. :)

And I made this cute card using my favorite sheet of patterned paper in the collection - the red polka dot paper - it's a fabulous shade of red. I sprayed all of the chipboard elements with Lemongrass GM and added liquid applique embellishments. The ribbon was white; I sprayed it with Key Lime Pie GM. The chipboard letters are from the Butterfly Framed Fonts Set. I sprayed them Oriental Poppy GM and then coated them with glitter.

Here is an idea for some quick little treat packages. A friend of mine gave me a tablet that was full of pre-cut boxes. You just punch them out, fold them up and add a little glue and voila! - You have a little box. They were made by Marcella by K, which I think you can buy at Target. And there are lots of places on the web where you can get templates for making little boxes. Anyway, after I punched them out, I sprayed them with Vintage Pink, Hula Hoop and Lemongrass GM. After they were completely dry, I assembled them, and added a few embellishments. The ribbon was white; I sprayed it with the same GM colors that I used on the boxes.

Some quick hybrid mini cards...

Welcome to Monday! Just popping in for a second before I head off to work to post some hybrid mini cards I made yesterday. They were really simple to make. I just assembled the little graphic for each in photoshop. I used elements from the Trap the Spark digital kit available at Scrapbook Graphics. I printed it on white cardstock, trimmed, folded the card, applied a greeting rub-on to each and added a few flowers to two of the cards and a few acrylic drops to the other two. I think they turned out cute and the fun floral print is reminding that spring is just around the corner. :)

Simplicity and Weightlessness...

This is a little project I made for my monthly hybrid project over at scrapbookgraphics.com. It features this little bird that is in the newly released Impressions of Simplicity Kit by the Studio Girls. This whole kit is really wonderful, but the little bird stole my heart – I’ve named her Pilot. I’ve decided she is going to be my little guide and help remind me of my “one word” for 2010 – weightless. So I combined my “one word” and Pilot into a wall hanging for my studio.

This “one word” concept was the first assignment in Tangie’s Art Journal Caravan (AJC). I picked weightless for 2010 because this year I want to focus on addressing the things that weigh me down. Like the things I think I should be doing, or doing more of, or things that I put off because I hate to do them. I need to put some processes in place where these things get off my list more quickly so I can have a lot more moments of weightlessness in my life.

Below are some images of the wall hanging. The background graphic uses digital elements, except the font, from the IO Simplicity Kit. The large font is Big Blue from Rosey Posey. The little handwritten font is CK Ali's Hand.

I sized the bird to fit nicely on the graphic then printed the background and the bird separately and trimmed them out. The wall hanging frame is essentially just a really shallow balsa wood box. I think it cost less than a dollar at my local craft store. I sprayed the entire box with Crushed Shells Glimmer Mist (Tattered Angels), this is one of my favorite glimmer mist colors. I also used it on the edges of the graphic – I think it added a lot of depth to the graphic. The images below show the frame and graphic with and without the glimmer mist so you can see the differences.

The project was pretty simple to assemble. I glued the graphic to the back face of the wall hanging; placed a strip of double-sided tape along the bottom left corner of the wall hanging and then clumped some corrugated kraft paper on it for the nest. I inserted the bird into the nest with some 3D glue dots and then added the little flowers. And that’s it – Pilot is now ready to be my little reminder to strive to be weightless!

Webster's Pages and Tattered Angels are a perfect combo...

If you watched the Tattered Angels blog last month, I’m sure you noticed from all of the Design Team posts that Webster’s Pages and Tattered Angels work great together! For my projects this month I made a few cards.

On this first card I used Crushed Shells GM on all of the paper and diecuts. It added a really nice aged shimmery look. I used Old Lace GM on the chipboard leaves (these come in the Glimmer Chips - Creme de Chocolat - Nature Collection - which is on sale now in the store!). I also used some of the new Glimmer Glam (Golden Goddess) on the butterfly diecut, the butterfly antennae, and all around the edge of the tag. The papers and letter stickers are all from Webster's Pages. The flower is from Prima.

On this second card I used Crushed Shells GM around the edges of the Webster's Pages patterned paper. I totally love the light brown/tan glimmer mists - they are perfect for adding that vintage touch. I spayed the butterfly with some Old Lace GM and sprayed the paper inside the center of the butterfly with Olive Vine GM. The butterfly is from the Butterfly Frames Fonts Set. I also sprayed the silhouette (from Webster's Pages) with Pearl GM and then added some Golden Goddess Glimmer Glam. That lace and flower petals trim is from Prima, found it at my local Michael's.

Once it was dry, I sanded it a bit to reveal the embossed pattern. The buttons are from Jenni Bowlin and the pearls are Mark Richards.

Holiday Mini Album...

I just realized I never posted this here. It was posted over on the Marks Paper Company blog, but not here. Anyway... this is a mini album I made for Marks Paper Company's 12 Creative Days of Christmas. Each day during this event Stacy Marks posted a design team members project along with responses to some holiday themed questions she asked each of us. I took her questions and used them along with my responses to create the mini album shown below. If you are interested in reading the questions and the responses, you can see them here.

I used the Winter Wrap Digital Kit in this album. I designed the pages in a photo editing program (adobe photoshop), printed them onto white cardstock, trimmed out the pages and glued them to chipboard coasters. I sprayed the back of each coaster with glimmer mist and stamped a snowflake on each using a glimmer screen. I hand wrote the journaling, inked the edges of the coasters and added a few gems here and there. I bound the pages together with a ring with a few ribbons tied to it.

A few more Valentines...

Here are some mini Valentines that I made with Marks Paper Company's Valentine Digital Kit. It's hard to see in the photo, but each card front is embossed with a different embossing folder. After I embossed the card fronts I added the little paper trims at the bottom of the card fronts and applied a rub on greeting to each one. The winged heart was provided in the digital kit, I just filled it digitally with the different patterned papers that were also provided in the kit. I printed them onto white cardstock, trimmed them out and attached each one to a card. I embellished them with a little bit a tulle with a button or pearl.

Some Valentine's Day Cards...

Hi everyone! Today I’m posting my monthly scrapbookgraphics.com hybrid project – this month is Valentine’s Day Cards. I used two digitals kits for these cards: the just released Impressions of Chocolate Kit and the previous Valentine’s Day Kit released by the Studio Collective, Impressions of Delight.

I’m working on a project concept that will hopefully end up in the Studio Collective Store – phased hybrid card projects. The phasing applies to the paper side of the project (not the digital). The phases will be levels of embellishment. So, if all you have for physical supplies are cardstock, scissors and adhesive, you can still make a very nice card. If you want to do more embellishing (like stitching, buttons, or glitter) there will be a phase 2 of the design included for that purpose. Hope this is making sense…

Here are a few cards to show the concept. The first image of each card is the simple hybrid version and the second image is the more embellished version. The last image of the post has a few detailed images of the embellishments.

Snow and an Always Friends Album...

It finally stopped snowing here in DC. In my area, we have a little over two feet of snow and thankfully our power is still on. I know there are a lot of power outages from the storm. I feel awful for those without power right now and I'm hoping their power gets restored very soon! Here is a photo I took around noon today, it kept snowing until the evening, so another few inches accumulated beyond what is shown here. I really can't believe how much snow DC has been getting this winter, makes me feel like I'm back in Pittsburgh. I used a tag from the Marks Paper Company Digital Winter Wrap Kit to frame this photo.

Speaking of snow... for my latest project for the Tattered Angels blog, I worked with the Frosty Glimmer Glass Album. However, I modified a bit to make into a non-seasonal friends album. I made the album as a gift for a couple of friends that are moving to Seattle. I'm going to miss them bunches.

The layout of the album is basically a theme per page. I left all the journal cards blank so they (my friends) could write what they want to remember about each of the events documented in the photos. In addition to the photo pages, I included some envelopes that have hand-written notes from me and some of their other friends.

The paper in the Tattered Angels albums is very nice, it really holds up to a lot of Glimmer Mist application. When I was done the book ended up being so thick I decided to bind it with string instead of putting it back into the original wire coil binding.

Below are images of all of the interior pages. The little images on the right hand side of the images sheets are details views of the album pages.

For the backgrounds I used a mix of patterned paper and glimmer misted sheets. The patterned paper is all from My Mind's Eye and the glimmer mist colors are Sand, Crushed Shells, Meadow Green, Turquoise Blue, Suede, Twilight, Coffee Shop and Candy Apple Red. The

I placed all of the photos into frames from the Pocket Watch Framed Font Set and the new Postage Stamp Frames Font Set. I just cut the little knobs off of the pocket watch frames to make them plain circles. I sprayed all of the frames with Dazzling Diamonds and Pearl.

The embellishments are from K &Company’s new Blossomwood Collection, My Mind's Eye, Making Memories and Mark Richards.

Journal Jar...

In January, I started two year-long scrappy projects that were offered over at scrapbookgraphics.com: Art Journal Caravan (AJC) and Journal 365. I'll talk more about the Art Journal Caravan when I post some of my pages from that project... maybe next week. It's a very cool endeavor and I'm really stretching myself on that journey...if you want to read more about it now, you can get info here and here. What I want to talk about today is the Journal 365 Project. This is a hybrid project kit that includes sheets of journaling prompts and some extra things to help you create a journaling jar. You pull a prompt from the jar each day, attach it to a page in your journal book and start writing. And I saw an all digital example here where the response to the journal prompt was being documented on their blog each day. But for me, I wanted to have an actual jar and journal book... so here's what I made.

I collect journaling books, I don’t often write in them, but that doesn’t stop me from buying them. So, it’s nice to think about putting one to good use. I went to my large hat box that stores all of my unused journals and a picked out a cute little floral pattern one that I actually made from a kit I got PaperSource.

For my jar, I recycled a candle jar. I embellished it to match my journal by adding some flowers and ribbon to the lid and lining the inside of the glass container with a patterned adhesive backed transparency. I custom made the pattern for the transparency by modifying a digital sheet of patterned paper that comes in Rosey Posey’s Somedays Kit. I wanted something that had a pattern to it, but also had a lot of clear areas so you could see inside the jar. The top image below shows the original paper and the one below that is what it looked like after I modified it a bit. All of the white areas will be clear on the transparency.

So, at this point I have a journal and a jar, I’m well on my way with this project :) Since my journal book is small, I printed the journaling strips a little smaller than they are provided in the kit. I loaded four of the provided journaling sheets onto one letter sized sheet for printing. So, I guess that makes them about half of their original size. I trimmed them out and placed them in the jar and honestly…it just didn’t do it for me. I wanted them to look more like little candies or something yummy like that. So I decided to roll them…yes…roll them. I’m not going to lie, about a quarter of the way through the rolling, it wasn’t fun anymore. But in the end, I’m loving the little rolls and am really happy with the way it turned out.

So, there it is, I have my Journal 365 Project ready to go. I hope you all join in on some of these year-long projects with me. And if you decide on Journal 365 and decide to roll…invite some friends over to help!

Some more Tattered Angels Sneak Peeks...

Here are a few sneak peeks of the projects I made for the Tattered Angels CHA booth.

In the first image you can see some of the new amazing colors that are being released and that little crab is one of the chipboard pieces that is included in the Beach Comber Glimmer Chips set.

The second image features the new framed font set - Postage Stamp. I've always loved the framed font sets because you get three pieces with each letter (a frame, a background and the letter itself). With this new set, I'm likely to use up all of the frames first, I love them and their size works so nicely on cards.

The third image shows one of the frames from the Postage Stamp Framed Fonts set combined with a Calling Card from the Timeless Romance Collection. This image also shows a Tattered Trinket - the key. I love these keys, I got a copper one in a Glimmer Kit and thought it was so pretty - I really wanted more of them. They used to only come in the kits, now you can buy just the keys. They come in silver, cooper and black - copper is my favorite!

The last image features the frame from the Postage Stamps Framed Fonts set - see... I told you I love these frames - can't stop using them!

Also, I got another box today with some more of the new releases. Here are some photos of a few things in the Tattered Angels Heidi Swapp Collection. It's some really cool stuff!!! The images below show the chipboard and diecuts - as you can see some pieces have gold foil and what may a little harder to see is that some have clear glossy accents. Both the foil and the glossy accents will "resist" the glimmer mist, I can't wait to play with these! If you check out Heidi's blog, you will see a lot of examples these products in use and she has some really good photos of the new Glimmer Glaze, Glimmer Glam and the Chalkboard Glimmer Mist. Enjoy!

Some more Anna Griffin Cards...

Here are a few more cards using the Darcey Collection from Anna Griffin. I love this collection - I've used up all of the patterned paper, I just have a few of the diecut tags left. I wanted to make sure I made some birthday cards appropriate for guys in this set, I never seem to have those on hand when I need them.

I've been busy working on some things for the Tattered Angels CHA booth and I'm loving their new products. I'll get you some more sneak peeks at the new products this weekend.

And Marks Paper Company has released their Valentines digi/hybrid kit. I got it yesterday and I can't wait to play with it, but I really need to finish my other projects first!

Oh - and today is my birthday - I'm enjoying the day in my syudio. I do have a couple birthday dinners this weekend and I see a gift downstairs for me (which I'm not allowed to have yet) - but from the size of the box I'm thinking it is the lightbox that I've been wanting - here's hoping!

Want to see some of the new Tattered Angels products...

Well, Tattered Angels has some really exciting stuff coming out. They have expanded there art medium products to include: Glimmer Mist Chalkboard, Glimmer Glaze and Glimmer Glam.

Because everyone loved the semi-opaque white Glimmer Mist "marshmallow", I know you all are going to love Glimmer Mist Chalkboard. It's the same concept as Marshmallow, but in color! Fabulous!!!

Glimmer Glaze is thicker than Glimmer Mist - you don't spray this product, instead each bottle comes with a brush attached to the cap (like a nail polish bottle). The thicker consistency allows it to adhere very well to Glimmer Glass as well as many other surfaces.

Glimmer Glam is similar to Glimmer Glaze, but with a more transparent color base and there is more than just shimmer in these bottles, there is glitter!!! And the colors are so yummy, I want them all right now!!! I have a few screen shots of the colors below, if you want a better look at them, you can watch the video from which I took the screen shots here.

And here is a peek at some of the glimmer glass from the Travel themed collection. Notice that the glimmer glass isn't tinted like it was is the previous collections - this allows you to customize the color of these embellishments to coordinate with any project. And, of course, the new Glimmer Glaze and Glimmer Glam products work great on Glimmer Glass. :)

A couple mini albums...

Today I'm uploading all of the cards I've made in the past month or so that haven't been posted yet. Trying to clean up so I'm ready to start my 2010 project file! Most of these cards (along with some others that have been previously posted) went into a card box that I made as a Christmas gift for my sister-in-law. I bought a pretty box from Joann Fabrics, made nine tabs to divide the box into sections (birthday, care and concern, congratulations, just because, thank you, spring holidays, summer holidays, fall holidays, winter holidays) and then I filled it with cards. Sorry, the only photo I have of it is this one.

So, this first card is a quick and easy one. I just sprayed some glimmer mist on the card and then applied a bunch of rub-ons and gems. I love how the white rub-ons create the look you would get from using a mask, but with the rub-ons, the lines are much more defined than you would get using a mask.

So, here is the last set. This is a bunch of mini cards/tags that I made using some Colorbok tags. These were very inexpensive to make. All together, there are 18 of them and it probably didn't cost more than a couple of dollars to make them. The printed tags I used came in packs that cost a dollar. I embellished them with a few small prima flowers, rub-ons, and acrylic drops. Because the cards are so small, I was able to find the cardstock for the card bases in my scraps pile. Really, the most expensive thing will be the envelopes if I use them like cards instead of tags.

Happy New Year everyone! Did you make any resolutions this year... are any of them the same as the ones you made last year... :) Some of mine are... and that's kind of depressing, so I'm going to try really hard to stay focused this year and keep that from happening again!

One of them is to be better with keeping up with my blog. So, here is my first post for the New Year. This is a Family Mini Album I made as a gift for my Mother this Christmas. I made using the Tattered Angels Regal Chip Tile Kit. This kit is fabulous - all of the elements included in the kit work together perfectly, it made creating this album so easy.

The image below is of the front and back covers. I sprayed all of the chip tiles with sand glimmer mist (first time I’ve used this color, I love it, one of my new favorites!) It was easy to cut the photo to fit inside the glimmer glass frame. I just placed the glimmer glass on the photo; traced around the inside and then just cut my image a little larger than the line I drew so it would be sure to fit completely under the frame. On the back cover, the patterned paper used behind the journaling card and on the heart actually came from the packaging.

The next two set of images are the interior pages. The concept of the album is “family”. I made a page for myself and each one of my brothers and sisters. Each of our pages includes a couple photos on the front side and a note to my mother written on a journaling tag and inserted into a slot on the back of the page. The inside front cover has photos of my parents and the inside back cover had a group family photos that was taken last Christmas.

All of the pages were covered with sand glimmer mist. For each of the “kids” pages, I inked the fronts to bring out the details on the glimmer chips (red-pink on the girls and blue on the boys). On the backs I used the included glimmer screen mist to create a swirly pattern. I used Starfish Glimmer Mist on the girls pages and the Patina Glimmer Mist on the boys pages (both of these colors come with the kit).

The next two sets of images show detail views of the album. I accented the pages with all of the goodies that came in the kit: glimmer glass, buttons, tulle and ribbon. The key that comes in the kit is beautiful; I tied it on the binding ring with ribbon and tulle (you can see a photo of that on the first image).

Also, I recently got a peak at some of the new releases that will be coming up from Tattered Angels, including the exclusive Heidi Swapp collection. And, I must tell you, it is all FABULOUS!!! Hopefully there will be some sneak peeks coming out soon. You are definitely going to want to be watching for these products as they get released, you are going to love them!

Easy holiday decor...

Well, it's December already! I can't believe it - still so much to do before I'm ready for the holidays! Anyway - here's a quick holiday decor idea. All you need is: plain pillar candles, translucent printable paper, your favorite holiday digital papers, glue, and epsom salt.

Print your favorite digi papers onto trace paper (guidance for printing into trace paper can be found here). I used papers from the just released Impressions of Festivities Kit that can be found at scrapbookgraphics.com. This kit is being offered at a special price of $4.99 until 3 December, after that it will sell for $9.99.

Trim the width of the printed paper so it wraps around the candle once and trim the height to suit your liking. With a brush or sponge, apply glue (I used Mod Podge) all around the side of the candle, then wrap the printed paper around the candle. Coat the side of the candle in glue again and roll the candle in epsom salt. Make a few of these and arrange them on a tray. You can supplement the arrangement with greenery, berries, pinecones, or whatever else you would like. It is important to note, as with all embellished candles, for safety reasons, you want to tend to these candles as they burn to ensure your embellishments are staying clear of the fire.

Songbird Avenue November Kit...

If you are not familiar with Songbird Avenue, it is a digital scrapbooking-based online boutique whose proceeds are donated to various charities each month. They team with talented designers to produce a new kit each month; the kit is sold for only one month and all of the proceeds go to the selected charity for that month. For all the digi and hybrid artists out there - Happy DSD! I'm on the CT at scrapbookgraphics.com. Once a month (every first Tuesday) I post a hybrid project on the scrapbookgraphics.com blog - Studio Matters. This month's post was full of hybrid cards I made with some of the amazing products that have come into the store recently. So, first I'll show you the cards and then tell you about some of the stuff going on over there today to celebrate DSD.

First here are a couple fall cards. These are made with the papers you can find in Phuong Ton’s Autumn's Kiss Kit or she also has just the papers for sale, aren't they gorgeous!!! I wanted to make simple cards that let the papers really stand out.

If you haven't been to scrapbookgraphics.com recently, you may not know that they have added some new designers to the team, one is Ruby Rynne. My next couple cards are made with two of her kits – Fat Quarter and Eight Field. I love her butterflies, look at the one the first card – it’s fabulous!

Inverting digital papers...

Here are a couple cards I made using the Autumn Digital Kit from Marks Paper Company. If you are familiar with that kit, you may notice the colors looks very different on my cards. Well, just to mix it up a little I inverted the papers. Inverting switches all of the colors to their visual opposite (complimentary) color on the color wheel. This is an easy way to get even more out of your digi kits. These cards are featured over on the Marks Paper Company blog today. Also, on the blog, you can also see the new collection for fall. It will coming out in digi form and a hybrid form which will have some things that you can print and use.

Halloween Treat Packages...
