Mini Cards...

Here are some really simple hybrid cards. I just opened a new 4" square canvas in my photo-editing program. I brought a digi patterned paper onto that canvas (using the Marks Paper Co digital kits), then I brought in the outlined floral graphic. I changed the color of the floral graphic, I made it white on the brightly colored cards and brown on the neutral colored cards. I added the greeting digitally.

To print, I assembled all four of the card design onto one 8.5"x11" canvas rather than printing them all individually (this saves paper). I wrapped some color coordinated craft thread around each card, then glued each to a 4x4' white card base.

Finally, I added a small felt circle and a button to each flower. Nice and simple!

Thanks for stopping by today! Patty

Happy Easter...

Hope everyone is having a wonderful holiday! Just wanted to stop in and share my Easter egg decorating story. I went out yesterday and bought little pieces of lace to decorate eggs with this technique I saw on on Martha Stewart's website. I did see a lot of comments from people saying it didn't work very well, but I thought that's them, I'll be skillful and careful, and it will work for me. Well, not so much. She was using food coloring not those little egg decorating tablets they sell every year, so maybe next year I'll try that. Last year I embellished the dyed eggs with a lot of scrappy supplies, so I was going for something different this year. Anyway, my fall back was the old standby of half-dipping and then I decorated a few of them with a Sharpie pen. They are definitely not the beautiful intricate eggs I was going for this year, but I think they turned out cute. Hope you are having a Happy Easter! - Patty

Cuttlebug Color CAS Challenge

I created these cards for the Cuttlebug Color CAS (clean and simple) Challenge that was posted on 6 April at the Cuttlebug Challenge Blog. You could use only black, white and kraft colors and keep it clean and simple.

Not sure if this one below would be considered so clean and simple, but I got the colors right! ;) I made the felt tree by cutting apart and piecing together a Prima felt mattie.

Products: Card Stock: Bazzill; Ribbon: Scrapworks, Creative Imaginations, Offray; Felt Diecut: Prima; Rub-on: Deja Views; Acrylic Drops: The Robins Nest.

I used some paper piercing on the card below to add some interest while still keeping it clean and simple.

Products: Card Stock: Bazzill; Ribbon: Michaels; Rub-on: Deja Views; Acrylic Drops: The Robins Nest; Ink: Clearsnap; Embossing Powder: Stampendous; Cuttlebug, Paper Piercer.

There's a lot going on over at the Cuttlebug Challenge Blog. They have a really big event coming up on May 1-3, it's a Cuttlebug Challenge Spa Weekend! Jennifer Mcguire, the Celebrity Guest, is creating an exclusive challenge for the event! There will be lots of great spa-related and scrap-related prizes!!! You can check out all of the details here.

Tattered Angels Featured Artist...

As I mentioned in a earlier post, Tattered Angels asked me to be this months featured artist on their website. They posted several of my projects and I answered some fun questions (I even managed to work in a photo of my pretty cat Hanna), you can check it our here. Here are some cards I made last week using Tattered Angels products (some of these are shown in the feature also).

This card shows how you can make any stamp you own into a quasi Glimmer Screen. Just heat emboss a stamped image with clear ink and clear embossing powder, spray Glimmer Mist over the image and then dab/wipe the Glimmer Mist off the embossed portion of the image. In this card the flowers were stamped, embossed and then sprayed with blue Glimmer Mist. The stem is made by using one of the Blossom Glimmer Screens as a stamp. Finally, I added some detail by paper piercing around the flowers and the stem.

Products: Blank Card Base: PaperSource; Cardstock: Bazzill; Spray Ink: Tattered Angels; Ribbon: Offray; Buttons: Basic Grey; Rub-on: Deja Views; Stamps: Making Memories; Mask: Tattered Angels; Embossing Power; Embossing Ink; Paper Piercing Tool.

Another version of this resist technique is sort of a double emboss resist technique. This is where you heat (wet) emboss over a dry embossed image. Take a dry embossed graphic (either one that you make or one that was bought pre-made) and rub clear embossing ink onto the raised parts of the image, add clear embossing powder and heat emboss. The rest of this technique works just like the stamped version, spray with Glimmer Mist and then dab the image, the mist will wipe off the raised embossed portion of the image.

The two examples below use embossed paper that I bought. I sprayed these cards with multiple colors of mist to create a nice rich composite tone.

Products: Blank Card Base: PaperSource; Embossed Paper: DCWV; Spray Ink: Tattered Angels; Ribbon: Chatterbox; Tulle: Bazzill; Chipboard: K&Company, Prima; Flowers: Prima; Stud Swirls: Prima; Embossing Power; Embossing Ink.

Products: Blank Card Base: PaperSource; Embossed Paper: DCWV; Spray Ink: Tattered Angels; Flowers: Imaginesce, Prima, Creative Imaginations; Leaves: Offray; Diecut: K&Company; Rub-on: Crate Paper; Metal Flower Brad: Nunn Design; Embossing Power; Embossing Ink.

These next examples use embossed paper that made with a Cuttlebug. The butterfly on the first card is made from flower petals, a paper bead, and two beaded pins.

Products: Blank Card Base: PaperSource; Cardstock: Bazzill; Spray Ink: Tattered Angels; Flowers: Prima; Paper Bead: Martha Stewart; Beaded Pins: Making Memories; Rub-on: Deja Voews; Ribbon: Offray; Gem: MAMBI; Embossing Power; Embossing Ink; Cuttlebug.

Products: Blank Card Base: PaperSource; Cardstock: Bazzill; Spray Ink: Tattered Angels; Flowers: Prima, Bazzill; Fabric Brad: Hot Off the Press; Beaded Pins: Making Memories; Rub-on: Deja Voews; Ribbon: Offray; Embossing Power; Embossing Ink; Cuttlebug.
