Some more cards...

OK, this is the last post today! Here are some cards I made using SEI's new Moravia line - I love the colors in this collection! All of the embellishments just worked so well with it, especially the Tattered Angels Nature Glimmer Chips.

Thanks for stopping by today, hope you all had a great holiday weekend! Patty

How about a Mardi Gras mask...

I made this from a plain white mask I bought at the craft store.

First, I trimmed the mask to change the shape, then I sprayed it with Tattered Angels glimmer mist and glued a braided ribbon along the entire edge. Then I sprayed some chipboard swirls with glimmer mist and added them to the mask. I placed some gems around the nose area and a large crystal swirl to one side. Then I glued a ribbon-wrapped stick to the back of the mask on one side and tied some ribbons to the top of the stick.
You know, I bought three of these masks (they were very inexpensive) figuring I would mess this project up a couple of times, but I really like the way the first one turned out. :)

Bookplate gift set and a card...

Here are some bookplates I made to go with a book I was giving to a friend.

I just some bought some labels at a office supply store, the type you can feed through a printer. They come in a lot of sizes, for this project I used the 2" x 4" labels. Using the English Garden digital kit from Marks Paper Company, I made five 2"x4"bookplate graphics in Photoshop. Next, in MS Word, I inserted these images into a label template that corresponded with the size labels I was using (a lot of the common label templates come already set up in MS Word). Once I had the template filled with images, I printed several copies of the page onto the labels sheets. I made one bookplate a little more fancy by attaching it to the bracketed journal die-cut that is included in the English Garden kit. This is the one I'm going to place in the book that I'm giving to my friend. To wrap the sheets of printed labels, I rolled them up inside a sheet of patterned paper and added a ribbon and a few flowers. The project was featured on the Marks Paper Company blog last week, if you haven't been to over the blog yet, you should check it out - there is lots of inspiration there.

And while I had my Marks Paper Company products out, I made this birthday card. I used some glimmer mist on the flower die-cuts, it gave them such a nice shimmer.

Some catching up...

Happy Labor Day! Hope everyone is having a great holiday weekend! I'm spending time this weekend with family, but wanted to get a few quick posts in to catch up with my blog. Here are some projects from my posts over at the Scrapbookgraphics blog. The first group of images are customized textbook covers. You just cover the book with a brown paper bag or that kraft paper. Then make a fun graphic to adhere to the front of the book and, if you want, make something for the spine. I made the front cover images 6"x8" which I thought would work for most text books. You get more details about these here.

This second project how to make cute and easy greeting cards using digital scrapbook quick pages. Basically you just digitally size the quick page down to your card size, fill the photo spots with a patterned paper or a coordinating color, type on a greeting or use word art, print (I printed these onto Bazzill white cardstock – orange peel texture), trim them, attach to a blank card base and then add some dimensional embellishments. You can get more details about this project here.

One more place card set...

Here's one more place card set - these have fun "what if" questions on them. Throughout the meal, people could take turns answering the question on their card. Sounds fun, I think. :)

I used Doris Castle’s Conversation Cards for the questions. Doris gives you the questions as isolated graphics in the kit so I combined them with her Totally Tags & ATC's kit.

Quick and Easy Place Cards...

How lame is it that it's been over a month since I posted anything! Projects are piling up around here! Well, I'm going to try to get caught up by Sunday with getting projects posted - so it should be a busy blog for a couple of days.

Today I want to show you some easy to make place cards. I actually made some of these last year but never posted them. Recently I did a new batch of them for my July blog post over at Scrapbookgraphics. So, I thought I'd get the images from the older ones and post them all together.

Some of the place cards below are as easy as printing and trimming a ready made embellished frame from one of your digi kits. Others just require modifying a digi element by adding a spot to write the guest name, and some are more complicated and involve assembling a number of elements together. So lets start with the easy ones first. These just involve digitally sizing the graphic to about 3" wide, printing onto cardstock and then trimming out the images.

The next sets required modifying the digital element by adding a little area to write the guest’s name.

The next sets are just the simple combination of a couple of digital elements. For frames that are straight along on the bottom, I added a little rounded tab that can slip into the slit on the block. You can either add this tab to the graphic before you print or draw it on after you print. I add a little half circle to the graphic before I print so I have a nice clean line to trim along. If you are using store bought place card holders, they are usually slit the whole way across, so you would likely not need this tab at all. However, holders that are slit across the entire unit have difficultly supporting the cards that need to balance on one point like the flowers and butterflies above. For these instances, you made need to layer some extra cardstock on the cards that balance on small points. This will make them fit tightly and reduce it’s tendency to tip over.

OK, here’s the last but not least of the sets, this is one of my favorites. I combined a vintage looking frame with some photos of my siblings and myself when we were young. I added a little bookplate and typed on the names before I printed. How cool would it be to show up for a special family dinner and find your place at the table marked with a photo of a favorite childhood memory.

The holders I used for all of the place cards are recycled wood mounts from my rubber stamp collection. A while ago, I removed all of my rubber stamps from their wood blocks. This really reduced the amount of space I needed to store my stamps, but it left me with a pile of little wood blocks that I felt bad about just tossing away. So I started thinking of things to do with them, the idea of making little place card holders came to mind. I painted them with crackle paint and cut a small slit in the top with a Dremmel. I love my Dremmel, it is easy to use and it's small size makes it perfect for using at a desk.

So, that's it for place cards. I'll be back tomorrow with a few more projects to share. Thanks for stooping by! Patty

Mini Card Sets...

Happy Wednesday! Today I want to share a few mini card sets. Each set includes four cards that were designed digitally and printed onto cardstock then placed in custom packaging with matching hand-folded envelopes.

The first set uses Marks Paper Company's new English Garden Collection (both the traditional and digital kits). The packaging for this set is made from a recycled Making Memories embellishment box that I covered and embellished. This project is the feature on the Marks Paper Company blog today.
